A double whammy post for everyone today! First up we have Kirsten and Andrew (a couple who are very close to our hearts…we might even go so far as to call them `family` he he). Originally from Edmonton, Kirsten and Andrew have temporarily adopted Hoboken, New Jersey (and New York) as their home while Andrew attends Dentistry School and Kirsten (a social worker) racks up some good karma by volunteering with a group that teaches peace games to elementary students. Not only did we have a blast shooting these photos (although it was chilly!) we also had a great time bunking in the Schmidt residence for our 10 day vacation!

Andrew really had to go! (and I couldn't resist) Can you believe this guy is my future dentist (and my current brother-in-law)?

While we were on vacation in New York City we had the opportunity to photograph Seanmichael and Damien. These two were married just before we arrived in New York and still had that newlywed spark. When they showed up we asked about their wedding. It sounded like a beautiful wedding and a very special day for them both. Much to their surprise their wedding is posted all over the internet! Something that neither of them expected. So naturally, I googled them. I found the video below on you tube which captures their personalities and their love for one another more perfectly than I ever could. I highly recommend you watch it. They are a completely lovely couple and are strong advocates for equal rights. They are even starting an equality based television on network in the US and (fingers crossed) we can expect it to come to Canada within a year or so. Check out more information here Embrace TV and a press release here. Seanmichael and Damien thank you for giving us the opportunity to photograph you both, we had a really amazing time.
You can see their wedding ceremony here. And read more about them here.

Recently we had the opportunity to hang out with Brandi and Lyra again and to take some more photos. We always have a really good time with these two and once again Brandi and Lyra came prepared to do anything! They were also forced to brave the cold for a long, long time (sorry again ladies). This will be our last post until our photos from New York City are revealed (next week sometime). Keep up with what we did (and saw) on this blog or on Harvey’s personal blog www.HarveyBlog.com (Home of the ever intriguing “100 people project”).
We can’t wait to reveal the awesome shots we took in New York City and to show you who we got to work with recently.

Alyna and Jamil were recently engaged and are planning a 2010 wedding. They are also the final winners of the Love Bucket photography contest. This shoot was done on a very cold November day in Edmonton. We hung out at a few places around Whyte Avenue including the Varscona Theatre, the Saskatchewan Drive bridge and Old Scona High School. Alyna and Jamil really came preparred with outfit changes (including a change of shoes!), and “up-for-anything” attitudes. Besides being ridiculously cute Alyna and Jamil are also lovely people. They were even good sports when we hit a few technical glitches with our off camera lighting…cold weather and rechargeable batteries are not a good match (lucky for us Harv with his crazy MacGyver skills pulled a few extras out of his pocket).

Here’s our personal favorite of the day…those eyes could rob a bank!

Shantel is a grade twelve student from Edmonton. She is really interested in photography and has volunteered to be one of our high school representatives. These shots were taken on a freezing cold, windy October day…typical for Edmonton. Shantel was a really good sport and even braved some shots without her parka!

Back in September we had a contest for a free photo shoot and I’m sure our loyal followers a wondering ”who won?”. Well, there are two fabulous winning couples. First here are Tiara and Jose. They were very excited and came ready to have some fun! In the first photo you will see them each holding a balloon (Jose’s balloon popped on him while he was blowing it up but he didn’t even hesitate to grab another balloon and try again!). These two love birds are both university students, so it’s fitting that we shot this session at the University Of Alberta.
Don’t forget to leave them some comments.

So now you’re wondering “what do those balloons say?” And “what is the meaning behind it all?” Well, for this shoot we asked them to write one word that comes to mind when they think of one another. Tiara wrote “Love” which is very fitting for these two but Jose cheated and wrote “Devastatingly Beautiful”. Who can blame him though? Not us.

We ended the shoot with Jose playing a little guitar to Tiara on the bank of the North Saskatchewan river in Edmonton. Jose said he plays on and off but whoa… the man is amazing!
Stef is very outgoing and was up for pretty much anything. The shoot was a last minute kind of deal and she showed up ready to roll!
Here’s a few from our day together in Edmonton.
